I don't know what this book is about but from looking at the cover i think that it will be about a young girl who goes to a place that is new to her. She looks like a girl who is curious about all most anything! This book looks like a book where the character goes on an adventure and it changes her life!Anne Shirley:"A child of about eleven, garbed in a very short, very tight, very ugly dress of yellowish gray wincey. She wore a faded brown sailor hat and beneath the hat, extending down her back, were two braids of very thick, decidedly red hair. Her face was small, white and thin, also much freckled;her mouth was large and so were her eyes, that looked green in some lights and moods and grey in others." Page.....

4. Who is your favourite character and why? Or - Who is the character that you can most closely relate to and why?
My favourite character is Anne. She is my favourite character because I like how she isn't afraid of many things and how she always dreams of things that will never happen but she still loves to dream of them anyway. I also like her because she she is mostly always happy and if she doesn't like something she just imagines it to be how she would like it! I am most like Anne because we both tend to daydream and talk a lot.
My favourite character is Hermione because she is really smart and loves being Harry's friend. Also because it is funny how she always knows the answers to things and she is always there to help Harry and Ron with their work. The character that I can most relate to is Hermione because although i don't know everything I can always help me friends out when they need it!
5. Describe the style of language and literary devices that the author uses. a) Find examples of; colourful adjectives, similes, metaphor, dramatic irony, etc.. b) Find a quote (with page number) for each example.
The language in Anne of Green Gables is old english. The characters talk very proper, for example: "The little birds sang as if it were the only day of summer in all the year" said Matthew Cuthbert- From page number 12. They have a lot of proper adjectives and similes in the book, for example: A great crystal white star was shining like a lamp of guidance and promise- Far ahead a glimpse of painted sunset sky shone like a great rose window at the and of a cathedral aisle.
The language in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is modern day language. But they speak very English and they say many English words because the book is set in England.
For example the boy characters in the book say "git" and "blimey" a lot (chapter 24).
6. Is your book an example of ‘classic’ or ‘modern’ literature? You must use evidence to back up your stance. For example; has your book stood the ‘test of time’? Are there theme’s that will transcend time?
Anne of Green Gables is classic literature because the book was set in the 1800's so they use very proper Old English language not like the way we speak today. They recite poetry at times in the book, for example: "The little birds sang as if it were the only day of summer in all the year," said Matthew Cuthbert. This book has definitely stood the test of time as a 102 years later after it was first published this book is still being read by many readers like myself. My great grandma, my grandma, my mother and I have all read this book. This just shows that people still appreciate this book after all these years. I think this book will transcend time because I think there will always be a place for the classic romance novel.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is modern literature. They do not use old english or formal language for example. Part of the reason why it is modern literature is because the characters use a lot of modern slang and words.
My book has stood test the time because Harry Potter is still as popular and people still want to read it as much as when the first book came out. I think it will still stand the test of time even in the future because it is such a great and adventurous book. I think this book will transcend time because i think that lots of people will always like and want to read a fantasy/adventure novel!
7. After reading the book, write a short note to a friend describing the book. Include a description of the genre, setting and difficulty level. You need to also include the following information; What were the main themes in the book? What was the central conflict? How was it resolved? Describe your feelings towards the novel. Did you enjoy it, why or why not? Did you find it easy to get into? Did you like it the more that you read it? Would you read more books by the same author, or of a similar genre?
Anne of Green Gables is a very good classic book. It's genre is children's classic. Anne of Green Gables is set in the mid 1800's and on Prince Edward Island. This book is not an easy book to read for everyone as it has many challenging words and sentences. Also this book is quite a difficult book to read because of the language they use in it (old english), it makes the book harder to understand. The main themes in Anne of Green Gables are romance, coming of age and personal conflict. The central conflict in this book is Anne wanting to see life a different way and try to imagine it a different way but people thinking she is weird because of that and not understanding her. Most people in the book thought Anne was a bit odd at first but those who got to know her better thought Anne was great and imaginative.
I liked the book very much because it had a great story line and in some parts of the story you wouldn't want to put the book down because you would want to know what is going to happen next. At first the book was very hard to get into and i even thought i might change books because i din't find it exciting. But then the story started getting better as Anne grew up and went on many adventures in her own little world. At the moment i have just finished reading the 6th book in the series and there are 8, so i did enjoy this series a lot.
This book is a great book!
Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire is a great book if you like to read fantasy/adventure. This book is set in England, it is set in the muggle world and then Harry goes off to Hogwarts. It is not an easy book to read but it is not a really challenging book to read either. If you like to only read small (thin) easy books then this book wouldn't probably suit you as it is quite a large book! The main themes in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire are adventure, fantasy, romance and conflict. The central conflict in this book is when Harry gets his name pulled out of the Goblet of Fire many people think that he put his own name in.......but another one of the main conflicts is that doesn't know who put his name in the Goblet of Fire and why they did it and that gets Harry angry.
I think this book is a great book but i have read most of the others in the Harry Potter series and in my opinion it is not the best out all seven of them. I found it a really easy book to enjoy and get interested in because it has lots of adventure. I would definetly recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure. I am also currently reading the whole series of Harry Potter.
